Weekly Assessment

This week I mainly worked on some sketches that supports our idea and also help added some text to the documents. First sketch consist of our game world, the game will takes place at Cedar Hill Asylum and the asylum consists of a west and east wing, at some point the player will have to cross to the other side. The 2nd and 4th image are room layouts, what interactions are available. The 3rd image is the UI where the crosshair changes depending on what is intractable. The 5th image are a list of potential items and the animation between them.

Assessment

After our proposal on Wednesday we knew we needed to change something, Over this week we had a major discussion on the direction the game is headed, and we concluded to change the story. The main gameplay will no longer be shooter but a puzzle, it will still be first person. It takes ideas from The Stanley Parable, Layers of fear, Amnesia, Ashtray, Penumbra and Talos Principle.

The game will be further discussed during Thursday January 21st and our next meeting on Friday January 22nd.

The final version for assignment 1

the wires are at the bottom of the lily pad, the frog is placed on the top of the blue paper causing the circuit to complete and finally using electrical paint to try and allow more conductivity. Final product the frog circuit is not 100% working at all time sometimes it loses conductivity as the mass of the frog is not heavy enough to allow the circuits touching at all time.Screen Shot 2016-01-18 at 10.45.55 PM.png

This is the following code I used, 100% my own code, only reference i used was the reference sheet on arduino.cc to look up function signatures like analogWrite(pin, 0-255)

The prototypes of the assignment 1

The first initial design

The first design involved using a ultra sonic sensor but unfortunately due to limitations, could not obtain a working distance sensor. when the frog is placed on the pedal, the lights for the dragonfly and water lily turns off.

After revising my design after week two, I updated the design to compensate it.

Assessment 1

Throughout this week, as a team we worked on the general concept and the attached documents to those. We went down the important general ideas like names, story and other important things. I drew some sketches and used Autodesk Maya to do a simple character to see if it was doable. The overall idea was based around previously made game that we liked such as halo, fallout and any other post-apocalypic style game. Other than that we will meet again later this week to either review our idea or completely redesign a new one.
